What is Reiki?

Reiki is a system of natural hands-on healing and originated in Japan. Reiki is pronounced Ray-Key and is translated as “universal life energy” which is the vital energy within and around all living things.

It was developed as a practice, spiritual discipline and philosophy of natural healing in Japan by Dr Mikao Usui over 100 years ago. Today, this form of healing  is practiced across the world by over a million practitioner’s and can be used as a safe form of complementary medicine alongside traditional and other complementary medicine.

Lucy practices the traditional system of Reiki – Usui Shiki Ryoho – named after the founder Dr Mikao Usui and brought to the west in the 1930s by Hawayo Takata.

Lucy has been a Reiki Practitioner since 2004 and has gained untold joy and fulfilment bringing personal empowerment and healing to her clients since 2010.

She is a member of the Reiki Alliance https://reikialliance.com/en/ - an international organisation of Usui Shiki Ryoho Reiki Masters, and Reiki Australia https://www.reikiaustralia.com.au/ and adheres to the codes of conduct and practising standards of this organisation.

What does a Reiki treatment involve?

The method of receiving a treatment is a very straight forward process. You simply lie on a couch and relax. If you are unable to lie down, your treatment can be given in an upright position.

Lucy gently places her hands non-intrusively in a sequence of hand positions on your clothed body, and the Reiki then flows through her into the person receiving the treatment.

It treats the whole person, not just your symptoms. Your treatment will take between 30 minutes to 1 hour with each hand position held for several minutes.
